Langano (Amharic: ላንጋኖ) is a lake in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia, exactly 200 kilometres by road south of the capital, Addis Ababa, on the border between the Misraq Shewa and Arsi Zones.

The lake is brown in colour. There are a number of resorts around the lake and water sports are popular. There is a variety of wildlife around the lake, which include hippos (rare), monkeys, baboons, warthogs, and a huge variety of birds. The area around the lake is largely deforested, however, and a large number of herders live around the area.

DAY 1 - Drive to LANGANO

Drive down the Rift Valley, passing through Debre Zeit, and by the lakes of Koka and Zeway before arriving at Lake Langano where you will check into the hotel. (If there are birders in the party, we will stop at Lake Zeway and head down to the lakeshore where huge numbers of water birds are come together. Around 4.00 PM we will make the short drive to Shalla and Abiata National Park.

DAY 2 - Relax by the lake and return

You will spend the morning relaxing by the lake, take lunch in the hotel and leave for Addis Ababa mid afternoon.
